Cellulite Busting Massage
What is Cellulite?
Cellulite is a connective tissue disorder caused by a loss of flexibility of the connective tissue surrounding the fat tissue causing the skin to have a dimpled “orange peel” or “cottage cheese” appearance.
It is a way of storing fat and leads to cells filling with fat. It occurs when the fat cells enlarge, usually with age, and push through the connecting fibres of the skin, which remain the same size, producing dimples to appear on the outer skin as the fat cells emerge through the connective tissue.
A reason for this breakdown in connective fibres is a poor circulatory system. Loss of circulation to an area – whether caused by lack of exercise, too much sitting, clogged arteries or nutrient deficiency – can have a serious impact and accelerate cellulite formation.
Because cellulite is not like regular fat, it must be treated differently. It cannot only be treated with diet and exercise alone. Non-overweight, physically active women also seek treatments to address dimpled-thigh skin.
Hormonal changes can be a contributing factor to cellulite. Oestrogen stimulates the storage of fat and during the later stages of pregnancy also causes the collagen fibres to break down in order to relax the cervix in preparation for birth.
“I did the CBM with Bernie, she’s great. I can see and feel a really good difference, not bumpy and lumpy any more. Even now 4 weeks later it still feels good. Look forward to further treatments.” S. Wright (Townsville)
Diet & Lifestyle
Reduce consumption of pro-inflammatory foods such as sugar, processed foods, fatty meat, dairy products, (such as milk, cheese, butter, and ice cream), margarine, and vegetable oils (such as corn, safflower, soybean, peanut and cottonseed oil)
Eat foods high in essential fatty acids such as oily fish, nuts and seeds. A diet rich in antioxidants, phytonutrients and bioflavonoids.
Consume foods that enhance circulation such as ginger, cayenne pepper, chilli, garlic and onions.
Consume a natural nutrient dense food based diet of fresh, preferably organic vegetables, fruits, nuts and seeds. Protein is important to connective tissue support and should be consumed regularly in small portions.
“After only a few sessions with Bernie I’ve found circulation in my legs has greatly improved. I suffer from restless legs syndrome and this treatment has really helped with the severity of it. You really feel every bit of your legs being worked during the session and whatever slight discomfort is felt, is far outweighed by the benefits afterwards. You immediately feel the improvements. I look forward to future sessions with Bernie.” Fiona (Townsville)
Benefits of Cellulite Massage
First, a cellulite massage softens up the body allowing cellulite to be broken up and absorbed into the body faster. The massage process also improves blood circulation while attacking the cellulite deposits under the skin.
Second, repeated massages can help your body flush fat deposits on the thighs and backside from your system faster.
Third, the cellulite massage process lowers your stress levels to help you feel better about your overall appearance as you start to see results from regular cellulite massages.
Cupping for Cellulite Reduction
The cupping massage is a unique treatment in that it helps with releasing restrictions in the fascia.
A very light suction provides drainage, while heavier application can be used to stimulate circulation and loosen adhesions or “dimpling”. Successful and enjoyable body sculpting and contouring is possible, with lasting results and many health benefits-rehab techniques that are enhanced by cupping.
It detoxes the body and boosts the immune system by moving lymph fluid, and also increases circulation and helps with plumping the skin to provide a vital radiance.
Cupping has also been found to affect the body up to four inches into the tissues, causing tissues to release toxins, activate the lymphatic system, clear colon blockages, help activate and clear the veins, arteries and capillaries, activate the skin, clear stretch marks and improve varicose veins.
Cupping is the best deep tissue massage available. Your body keeps a journal of what you eat, your lifestyle, what exercise you do and how you think regardless of what you say or write down.
